We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our supporters.
Useful donations include new or gently used car seats, strollers, bassinets, Pack'n Plays, unopened toiletries, towels, blankets, and twin-size sheets.
Because of variations in sizes and styles, we are limited in our ability to accept any maternity clothes or baby clothes. We do not accept breast pumps due to sanitary concerns (If your item is not listed, you can always inquire through the Contact Us form to see if your items are needed).
Note: the most helpful way to support the Hiding Place is by providing monetary support towards items on the Giving List that directly meet the immediate needs of the women and babies we serve.
Intake Process at The Hiding Place
Due to the limited space and size of the facility, we generally cannot accept mothers with children over of the age of two years old.
We are very supportive of you keeping your job. However, transportation to and from work is not provided. If you have a baby, you will need to enroll your baby in daycare while you are at work. You may apply for daycare vouchers to help cover the cost.
No, the Hiding Place is a home for women who are pregnant or in crisis situations. Due to the limited space and size of the facility, we generally cannot accept women who are not pregnant or mothers with any children over of the age of two years old.
The full program is up to 9 months long, but not everyone will need to stay the entire time. Some women may only need a few weeks, while others benefit from completing the full program. We work with each woman to develop an individual plan with personalized goals designed to help a successful transition from the program into independence.
The Hiding Place does not provide substance abuse treatment or mental health services. Women accepted into our program must be drug-free at the time of entry and committed to remaining substance-free. Because we serve mothers and young infants in a shared residential setting, and due to the sensitive nature of this environment, we are not equipped to support individuals with active mental health conditions. We encourage those needing these services to seek specialized programs that can best meet their needs.
The Hiding Place is a group residential setting. While we have a limited number of beds, residents share living spaces. This shared environment helps foster community, support, and encouragement among residents while maintaining safety and care for mothers and babies.
No, we do not offer financial support. However, we do provide information and resources you can pursue for housing assistance, daycare, and other basic needs. Our goal is to help ensure that when your time at The Hiding Place ends, you and your baby are prepared for a successful transition into independence. We offer access to helpful resources while at a safe and supportive environment for you and your baby.
Yes, but parental custody must be given to the directors for the duration of their time at the Hiding Place.
